Board foot pricing and getting your money's worth.

You would be surprised to learn that even some fairly experienced woodworkers cannot tell you what a board foot is.  Board foot is a woodworker's/ lumberman's nomenclature for a piece of wood that is 12" by 12" by 1".  In other words, a board foot is a square foot, one inch in thickness.

We charge simply, by the hour, so you get the most bang for your buck.  A great saw like ours can saw approx. 300-500bf (board feet) an hour or more.  If we were there for three hours and kept a consistent work flow, we could do about 900-1500bf.  That would be a cost of $300 of labor and the $150 set up fee*, costing you $450.  This may seem like a lot, but really, it is not.

Some sawyers choose to saw by the board foot, usually charging around 40 cents to 50 cents a board foot.  If they saw the same amount of material (assuming they also have a world class saw) in the same amount of time, then the 900-1500bf will end up costing you $450-$750.  You really take a risk going by the board foot.

Our pricing is fair, and we will not charge for work we don't do.  Integrity is at the heart of our business, and our goal is to give you the best value we can.

*Pricing is assuming you are within our 75 mile radius.  See Pricing page for more info.
